Technology and Luck

This article in the May 2005 issue of National Geographic on the Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) in Clarksburg, West Virginia Zipcode 26306 talked about how all of the crime databases (e.g. crime reports, fingerprints) which are housed there are being used. This sentence reminded me that even with all the technology we still need a lot of luck:

"If Osama bin Laden tries to buy a gun at Wal-Mart, we'll know about it."
